Losing his eyesight in an accident at age 17 forced him to change his future plans and persue a post graduate education and career in computer science.

Through overcoming adversity, he developed resilience, perseverance, and a strong sense of self-advocacy, skills that would shape both his personal and professional journey.

His passion for competition remained unwavering, leading him to excel as a lifelong amateur athlete thriving on competition in various sports including World Cup para alpine skiing, provincial goal ball, local blind tennis and World Sailing championships in both fleet and match formats.

Currently, Dave holds the record for the longest shootout win in blind hockey competition at 8 rounds from 2024 tournament.

He has 3-peated as gold medal winning goalie in the open blind ice hockey division in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Dave is a co-owner with 7 others of a world record for the most legally blind persons to summit the world's tallest free standing mountain, Kilimanjaro, on October 7, 2026.
